Job Summary: 
The Welder &amp; Fabricator is responsible for creating metal structures, components, and equipment used in construction. This position works closely with project managers, and other skilled tradespeople to ensure that all welding and fabrication work meets project specifications. The Welder &amp; Fabricator works with the dynamic construction team on unique and innovative building projects around picturesque Lake Sunapee. This position operates independently and does not have supervisory responsibilities.
 
Primary Duties:

Reads and interprets blueprints, technical drawings, and project specifications to determine the appropriate welding and fabrication techniques.

Summary Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare labor and material estimates for bridge steel, projects, or services.&nbsp;
 Essential Functions Read and understand job bid instructions, detailed plans and specifications, and prepare a "take off" of materials included in the job for the steel bridge market.&nbsp;
<ul>
<li>Estimate all necessary labor, materials, buyout items, equipment costs, freight costs (including crane costs as required) to prepare a thorough estimate and prepare project proposals.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Exercise good judgment and experience in working with purchasing, steel erection labor, equipment and transportation costs to arrive at full cost estimate with appropriate profit margins to achieve company&nbsp;goals.</li>
<li>Work directly with sales, preconstruction teams, and operations to understand size and scope of projects along with timelines and applicable project deadlines.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Ensure that all contractual terms, project specifications, plans and obligations of such projects are maintained and a clear understanding of project scope.</li>
<li>Meet with management if costs exceed budget and obtain permission before approving out-of-budget costs.</li>
<li>Assist in proper accounting for project change orders.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Interface with Estimating Manager and any necessary departments to determine the scheduling of work and materials.&nbsp;</li>

Qualifications

<li>5-10 years related experience as a Project/Construction Manager/ Estimator in the structural steel industry or 5 years related experience as a Project Coordinator/Engineer or Assistant Project Manager along with 3 years detailing/drafting.&nbsp;</li>
<li>A Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Structural/Civil Engineering, or Business may substitute for 3 years of the required experience.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Experience as a fabricator or erector may substitute for detailing/drafting experience.&nbsp;</li>
<li>Working knowledge of engineering and design concepts in the structural steel and&nbsp;bridge industry.&nbsp;</li>
