Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) is an evidenced based practice model that provides an intensive and highly integrated approach to community mental health services. ACT support helps people with severe and persistent mental illness become independent and live in the community as they work toward their recovery goals. ACT support also helps with reducing homelessness and unnecessary hospital stays. 
 
The Adult ACT Medication Training and Support (MTS) Specialist provides outpatient community-based counseling support to educate; problem solve and develop strategies to incorporate prescribed medication into daily routine and lifestyle. Additionally, they will assist clients with improving mental and physical health symptoms and behaviors that otherwise interfere with daily functioning and wellness goals. Becca is a passionate, playful, and genuine 31- year-old woman. She loves her animals, and they sometimes help regulate her anxiety at home and in the community. When at a behavioral baseline, Becca enjoys social interactions with others, especially those close to her, and with whom she has formed relationships within her social circles. She does exhibit intense behavioral outbursts. Becca has a close relationship with her family and likes to socialize with friends whom she has maintained relationships with from Special Olympics'. Becca also attends equine therapy where she helps care for the horses and enjoys going out to eat and shopping.
She is mobile but requires a wheelchair for long distances as she tires easily and is at high risk for drop seizures. She also utilizes a gait belt/harness for walking and transfers, as she has an extensive seizure history. Behavioral challenges along with ongoing seizure activity continue to be an issue for Becca's day-to-day living and functioning. She requires personal care support from her home care provider and staff but has been working on her independence with her continence and hygiene. Becca uses some verbal communication and picture exchange communication (PECS) and visual board communication but requires support in communicating.

The Caretaker is responsible for general upkeep of our building and property, including the Renaissance Shoppe.
This position is one day per week (no weekends), 4 - 8 hours per week, at our office which is located at 107 Newport Road, in New London.
Responsibilities of the Caretaker:
<ul>
<li>Performs general light maintenance needs such as lighting, light plumbing, changing of filters, window washing, minor repairs to include small painting projects, moving furniture. </li>
<li>Provides winter-related maintenance such a shoveling walkways, salting, and de-icing, as needed to supplement plowing contract.</li>
<li>Provides summer-related outside maintenance such as mowing, weed whacking, and general yard maintenance.</li>
<li>Performs general outside fall and spring cleanup.</li>
<li>Provides minor cleaning chores, as need to supplement outside cleaning service.</li>
<li>Performs general monthly building safety checks.</li>
<li>Transports office recycling to town transfer station.</li>
<li>Assists Renaissance Shoppe with moving items and light maintenance.</li>
<li>Practices safe body mechanics in all aspects of maintenance and supply organization.</li>
<li>Engages in respectful communication (both verbal and written) with team members, patients, family members, and the community.</li>
<li>Adheres to agency wide policies.</li>
<li>Other duties as assigned. </li>
</ul>
Qualifications of the Caretaker:
<ul>
<li>Minimum of two years' experience involving repair and maintenance work.</li>
<li>Must possess flexibility and desire to assist staff in retrieving, repairing, or moving equipment and other objects as the need arises.</li>
<li>Must be self-motivated and organized.</li>
<li>Must recognize limitations of position; to call in specialized assistance as necessary.</li>
