Position Overview

The primary responsibilities of the Shift Supervisor on the day shift are to overseeing daily production, operating efficiencies, and ensure quality standards are achieved. Management of the Safety Program including identifying and reacting to safety issues or concerns. Work with management and personnel to identify potential opportunities for improvements for hazards associated with operations and activities. Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on equipment as needed or assigned.

Essential Job Function

  • Supervise production line set-up including ensuring production line starts on schedule.
  • Supervises all production activities performed by employees; maintains a high degree of visibility and access to employees throughout the shift, responsible for the entire shift in the absence of the production manager.
  • Maintains department standards for productivity, reliability, and accuracy
  • Monitors and reports daily production results, material usage, scrap, and downtime
  • Monitors machines performance with Real Time ERP Systems
  • Updates ERP system as need.
  • Reports equipment problems to appropriate department and production manager.
  • Coordinates with quality control to maintain quality standards; takes appropriate corrective measures to resolve deficiencies.
  • Assists manager in forecasting staffing needs to meet peak demands of the business and staff team accordingly; trains, motivates, coaches, evaluates performance, rewards, and disciplines employees being supervised; resolves personnel issues.
  • Coordinates with the production manager to manage personnel issues including but not limited to vacation approvals, time card approval, daily and weekly overtime, hiring, and training.
  • Assists production manager with development and implementation of policies and procedures; ensures all established policies and procedures are followed by employees
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area.
  • Maintains safety programs and all required safety training for employees.
  • Perform PMI Maintenance on machinery and equipment as assigned.

Education, Skills, Training and Experience

  • Two to four years related experience or equivalent combination of experience and education.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in supervision and motivating team member.
  • Knowledge of production practices and procedures.
  • Commitment to excellence and high standards.
  • Ability to manage priorities and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Fork Truck Training.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
