Job Description
Diamond Turning Innovations is seeking an enthusiastic individual responsible for the setup, programming, and safe operation of single-point CNC diamond turning machines to produce precision optical components. The role includes metrology, quality control, and basic machine maintenance.
Work responsibilities include:
Machine Operation & Programming
- Set up and operate diamond turning lathes for both prototype and high-volume jobs.
Metrology & Inspection
- Clean, visually inspect, and measure optical components using Zygo interferometers, Luphoscan, etc.
Program & Process Adjustments
- Modify machining parameters and troubleshoot tooling or program issues to maintain required tolerances.
Tooling & Maintenance
- Set up diamond tools, balance spindles, perform vacuum chuck mounting, and conduct routine preventive maintenance.
Documentation & Training
- Record inspection data and job details. Occasionally document procedures and train less experienced technicians.
Workplace Practices
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and adhere to safety, ISO, or other quality standards.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED; completion of CNC programming or technical training preferred.
- Some experience in diamond turning, precision machining, or optics manufacturing.
- Technical Skills
- Experience in CNC programming (G/M codes, DIFFSYS, NanoCam), and proficient with CAD/CAM and GD&T principles.
- Metrology Knowledge
- Skilled in using interferometers, profilometers, CMMs, and other measurement tools.
- Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail, good written and verbal communication, organizational abilities, and the capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
