Position Summary:
The Aluminum Extrusion Shift Leader is responsible for overseeing all extrusion operations during their assigned shift, including packing, loading, and maintenance coordination. This role ensures production goals are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards. The Shift Leader will manage team members, coordinate workflow, troubleshoot issues, and maintain a high level of operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Supervision:
- Direct and supervise extrusion operators, packers, loaders, and support staff during the shift.
- Assign tasks and monitor performance to ensure productivity and adherence to standards.
- Provide training and guidance to team members on equipment operation and safety protocols.
- Production Management:
- Ensure extrusion presses are set up and operated according to specifications.
- Oversee packing and loading operations to meet shipping schedules and quality requirements.
- Monitor production schedules and adjust resources to meet deadlines.
- Maintain accurate shift reports, including production output, downtime, and quality metrics.
- Quality Assurance:
- Visual Inspect products ensure compliance with dimensional and surface finish requirements.
- Address quality issues promptly and implement help corrective actions.
- Maintenance Coordination:
- Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule and prioritize repairs and preventive maintenance.
- Report equipment issues immediately and assist in troubleshooting when necessary.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Enforce safety policies and procedures to maintain a safe work environment.
- Conduct regular safety checks and report hazards immediately.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains across extrusion, packing, and loading operations.
- Collaborate with maintenance and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues and optimize performance.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical training preferred.
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in aluminum extrusion or related manufacturing environment.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience required.
- Strong knowledge of aluminum extrusion processes, packing, loading, and maintenance coordination.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
