Job Summary
Apply advanced knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) systems and design technology along with tolerance analysis methods and design techniques to contribute to the development of high quality commercial cooking equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Use CAD software to create complex and parametric models, templates, and component-detailed drawings within required specifications.
Investigate product performance problems and recommend solutions.
Select materials of construction to meet mechanical and environmental requirements while embodying the most cost effective solutions possible.
Ensure designs implement proper technologies while meeting manufacturing, cost, and timing goals.
Work directly with sales managers, project managers, and internal teams to identify customer requirements, establish design expectations, and meet agreed upon design, performance, and project goals.
Develop and maintain project timelines to ensure all key deliverables are met.
Contribute to the launch of new programs with manufacturing.
Maintain leading-edge technical proficiency and stay abreast of new trends and scientific developments in fields impacting the mechanical sciences.
Work with other departments in obtaining samples and test data. Provide other departments with information needed to prepare catalogs and other sales literature.
Maintain laboratory notebooks to document the creation and development of new inventions. Prepare invention disclosures and work with corporate attorneys in researching, writing, and filing patent applications. Take any necessary and legal steps to protect intellectual property.
Adhere to all departmental and company-wide safety and procedural policies.

Requirements:
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience
Associates degree (A.S. or A.A.) in the engineering or business fields, or equivalent experience.
Demonstrable knowledge/experience in the following:
· Sheet metal, machining, die casting, injection molding, and other manufacturing methods.
· New product development processes and workflows.
· Executing engineering changes and workflows.
· Formal document control procedures.
· Successful multi-disciplinary product development teams.
Demonstrable knowledge/experience in the following preferred:
Piping, plumbing, and combustion design.
Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) / Materials Requirement Planning (MRP), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Product Data Management (PDM) theories and processes.
Reference “Engineering Technical Ladder” for position levels.
Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Ability to convert measurements between the imperial and the metric system.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills
Must be proficient with Solidworks program. Must have knowledge of database software, internet software, spreadsheet software, presentation software, and word processing software.

Other Qualifications
This position requires practicable knowledge of industry drawing standards and practices and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) including ASME Y14.5M.
