About the Role:

The Saw Operator plays a critical role in the durable goods manufacturing process by accurately and efficiently operating saw machinery to cut raw materials to specified dimensions. This position ensures that all cuts meet quality standards and production schedules, directly impacting the overall efficiency and output of the manufacturing line. The Saw Operator is responsible for setting up, adjusting, and maintaining saw equipment to optimize performance and minimize downtime. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are paramount to prevent accidents and maintain a safe working environment. Ultimately, the Saw Operator contributes to the production of high-quality products by delivering precise cuts that meet engineering and customer specifications.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience operating saw machinery or similar equipment in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret job orders, blueprints, and measurement specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety standards.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in machine operation or industrial equipment handling.
  • Experience with CNC saws or automated cutting machinery.
  • Familiarity with durable goods manufacturing processes.
  • Basic mechanical troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and monitor saw machinery to cut materials according to job specifications and blueprints.
  • Set up saw equipment, including blade selection, alignment, and calibration, to ensure accurate cuts.
  • Inspect raw materials and finished cuts for quality and adherence to dimensional tolerances.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of saw equipment to maintain optimal functionality.
  • Follow all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment for self and coworkers.
  • Collaborate with production team members to meet daily production targets and deadlines.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor promptly.

The Saw Operator utilizes technical skills daily to set up and adjust saw machinery for precise cutting operations, ensuring that all materials meet exact specifications. Attention to detail is essential when inspecting cuts and interpreting blueprints to maintain product quality.
