You start your morning reviewing design updates for a new RF module and pairing them with the right integrated circuits, passives, and connectors. A supplier EOL notice lands in your inbox—within minutes you are evaluating alternates, planning a qualification path, and coordinating with vendors. After lunch, you create a Source Control Drawing and update a Vendor Identification Drawing. You wrap the day by validating parts against performance, reliability, and lifecycle goals, confirming the project is tracking on schedule and within budget.
What you will do
- Design, develop, and support component strategies for Digital and RF products, ensuring module-level reliability and lifecycle objectives are met.
- Own component selection for electrical and mechanical assemblies, balancing performance, availability, cost, and compliance.
- Test and choose integrated circuits, resistors, capacitors, connectors, and other electronic parts for suitability.
- Plan and execute component design evaluations and qualifications to confirm alignment with product requirements.
- Manage obsolescence and supply constraints by sourcing vendors and manufacturers, identifying alternate parts, and defining substitution and qualification strategies.
- Research termination styles, plastic encapsulations, and construction methods to inform robust selections.
- Produce engineering deliverables: Vendor Identification Drawings, Source Control Drawings, and Altered Item Drawings.
- Build cost analysis forecasts that inform program estimates and trade-offs.
- Complete all required technical and regulatory documentation accurately and on time.
- Drive rigorous verification of products, supporting software, and related test infrastructure.
- Track execution to ensure commitments are met on schedule and within the specified budget.

- Hands-on experience with component testing methods and qualification processes to applicable standards and specifications.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years of professional experience in component engineering or closely related work.
- Demonstrated knowledge of electrical component parameters and packaging.
- Demonstrated knowledge of high-reliability military component standards and specifications.
