Center for Life Management is seeking a Supported Employment Specialist to join our Adult Services team. This is a highly independent, community-based role for someone who is organized, empathetic, and confident building relationships with employers, clients, and clinical teams.

If you enjoy working out in the community, take a holistic approach to supporting people, and aren’t afraid to advocate, follow up, and speak up in team discussions, this may be a great fit. This is a full-time, 40 hour per week position. We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organized and able to manage their own client caseload
  • Comfortable using basic Excel workbooks for tracking lists and outcomes (no advanced formulas required)
  • A strong communicator who works comfortably with employers, clients, and treatment teams
  • Empathetic and passionate about working with underserved populations
  • Confident approaching employers and building long-term relationships
  • Willing to share observations and professional opinions in treatment team meetings
  • Independent and self-directed, while still valuing collaboration
  • Comfortable spending most of their time in the community rather than an office
  • Experienced (or interested) in case management, employment services, or job-search support in any setting

About the Role

CLM provides comprehensive outpatient mental health services for adults and elders experiencing severe and persistent mental illness, co-occurring developmental disabilities, and substance use disorders. Supported Employment (SE) is an evidence-based model that helps individuals find, obtain, and succeed in competitive, community based employment, as well as pursue education aligned with long-term career goals. In this role, you’ll support clients through counseling, motivational interviewing, skills training, and hands-on employment support in real-world settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide weekly and/or biweekly individual and group Supported Employment services in the community, the client’s home, public, or remote via telehealth settings
  • Use motivational interviewing to support goal development, behavior change, and coping strategies
  • Engage clients in outcome tracking and employment-related goal setting
  • Provide Crisis Intervention when clients experience acute symptom exacerbation
  • Build relationships with employers, educators, clients, natural supports, and clinical team members
  • Participate actively in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings
  • Adhere to and uphold the General Organization Index and Fidelity Scales specific to SE to support the authenticity of program implementation
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record
  • Meet weekly billable service expectations (incentive pay available for exceeding productivity goals)
  • Represent CLM professionally in all community and employer settings
  • Comply with agency policies and state/federal regulations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Experience working with co-occurring disorders preferred
  • Experience with motivational interviewing preferred
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic health records
  • Ability to document clearly and efficiently
  • Willingness to work primarily in the community

A Day in the Life of a Supported Employment Specialist

No two days look exactly the same. You might start your morning reviewing your schedule and checking in with a client preparing for a job interview. Later, you could meet a client in the community to practice workplace communication skills, follow up with an employer about a potential placement, or attend a treatment team meeting to share progress and collaborate on next steps. Between appointments, you’ll document services, track outcomes, and plan outreach. Most of your day is spent supporting clients where they are, helping them build confidence, skills, and meaningful employment opportunities.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

The work will be performed in the office, in the client's home, out in the community and/or remote via telehealth. Manual dexterity is needed to use computers. The ability to sit for extended periods of time is required. Reliable internet access, transportation, a clean driving record, and proof of auto insurance coverage is required.
