Job DescriptionMRI Technologist
Job Summary
The MRI Technologist is responsible for performing high-quality MRI procedures while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and exceptional clinical care. Working under the supervision of the Medical Imaging leadership team, this role supports both clinical and administrative functions to meet physician and patient needs.
Key ResponsibilitiesMRI Procedures & Patient Care

Perform MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols

Assess patient needs and provide individualized care based on age, physical condition, and mental status

Ensure patient safety by screening for MRI contraindications
-
Provide education to patients and families regarding MRI procedures
-
Maintain accurate documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR)
-
Communicate effectively with Radiologists and referring providers regarding imaging needs and findings
-
Monitor image quality and make technical adjustments as necessary

Assist with training new staff and students as assigned
-
Follow all radiation safety, infection control, and departmental policies
-
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
PACS Responsibilities

Archive digital images accurately within PACS (Synapse)
-
Scan documentation in a timely manner
-
Troubleshoot imaging issues as needed
-
Push images to external facilities
-
Burn CDs and enter technologist notes for completed exams
HIS/RIS & Administrative Duties
-
Ensure timely reporting and accurate exam charging
-
Print schedules and verify patient orders
-
Confirm patient identity using two identifiers
-
Support efficient workflow and coordination across departments

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage a fast-paced clinical environment with attention to detail

Familiarity with EMR systems, PACS, and standard office technology

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, or reaching

Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and professionalism
Qualifications
-
Graduate of an AMA-approved Radiologic Technology or MRI program
-
Minimum of 1 year of MRI experience required (clinical rotations considered)
-
ARRT Registered Technologist (RT) or Registered MRI Technologist required
-
ARRT (MR) preferred or eligibility to obtain within 18 months of hire

Current registration with the New Hampshire Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy

Current BLS Certification required
