Job Summary

The Payroll Specialist is responsible for processing payroll for all employees accurately and on time, maintaining payroll records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role also supports reporting, auditing, and employee inquiries related to payroll and timekeeping. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, confidential, and thrives in a deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Process biweekly payroll for multi-state employee population, ensuring accuracy and timeliness

• Maintain employee payroll records, including deductions, withholdings, garnishments, and benefits integration

• Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate processing of new hires, terminations, and changes

• Apply, maintain, update multistate tax codes as needed

• Audit timesheets, PTO accruals, and other leave balances to ensure correct payroll data

• Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and validate confirmed reports

• Prepare and submit payroll-related reports to Finance and HR as needed

• Respond to employee payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies professionally

• Ensure compliance with FLSA, DOL, IRS regulations, and internal controls

• Assist with annual W-2 processing, state/federal tax filings, and audit requests




Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

• 2+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably in a multi-state environment

• Knowledge of payroll systems (e.g., Paylocity, ADP, or similar)

• Understanding of wage and hour laws, including FLSA and state-specific regulations

• Strong Excel skills; familiarity with HRIS platforms a plus

• Exceptional accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Compensation details: 30-33 Hourly Wage
