Job Description\n

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Stepdown Cardiac/ED Holding position requiring a strong PCU background, Epic proficiency, and active NH or compact RN license.

\n \n Responsibilities\n

  • Position is contracted to the ED unit, specifically to care for inpatient/CICU-level holds within the ED setting
  • Patient population includes chest pain, syncope, heart failure, sepsis, overdose, GI bleed, COPD, and pneumonia, with overflow coverage for medical, surgical, trauma, oncology, and orthopedic patients
  • Cardiac procedures include post-cath with stent (no CABG), ICD/pacer insertions, and cardioversions
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4
  • Drip management and titration required — most common include Lasix, Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitroglycerin, Integrillin, Labetalol, Dopamine, and Dobutamine
  • Special equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, Alaris Pumps, and Philips Monitoring System
  • EMR: Epic experience required
  • Night shift: 3x12-hour shifts, 19:00–07:30
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • Floating requirements vary per unit
  • Candidates who have previously been employed at any facility within the SolutionHealth system are not eligible for this position, regardless of time since separation
  • Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are accepted at a local pay rate
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply provided they have Epic experience and at least 2 years of experience
  • Facility-required drug screen must be completed within 14 days of start date
  • 13-week contract

\n \n Requirements\n

  • Active NH state license or compact RN license required
  • Minimum 2 years of RN experience with a strong PCU background within the last year
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications required — only AHA or Red Cross certifications accepted
  • EKG test required upon arrival
  • Epic EMR experience required; first-time travelers accepted only with Epic experience and at least 2 years of experience
  • ED experience preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in cardiac and telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Skills in BiPAP/CPAP management, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), and non-invasive airway management required
  • IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and peripheral line care required
  • CPI certification preferred
  • Preferred skills include sheath removal, post-cardiac angiogram care, pre/post cardiac cath care, ABG interpretation, chest tube management, tracheostomy care, care of ventilated patients, and wound care/wound vac
  • Two professional references required for consideration; may be considered with one reference and one pending
