Job Summary:

STARTING RATE OF $50/HR AND UP!

Under the direction of the Radiologist and the MRI Supervisor, performs MRI procedures in accordance with department protocol at a technical level, not requiring constant supervision of technical detail. Able to perform a variety of technical procedures including but not limited to extremity imaging, MR Angiography, and Body imaging. Requires independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative, to apply theoretical MRI knowledge into practice to provide the best possible imaging for the diagnosis. Responsible for administering IV and oral contrast. Responsible for maintaining ARRT certification, BLS certification and NH Imaging License.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports and promotes the mission and values of Covenant Health Ministry.
  • Acquires scans according to radiologist and department protocol.
  • Informs patients of exam and provides instruction to assure patient cooperation.
  • Assists radiologist during Interventional Procedures.
  • Coordinates daily workload by scheduling inpatients and prioritizing emergency department patients with consideration of the outpatient schedule.
  • Complete MRI Screening Form per department protocol.
  • Screens persons to ensure there are no contraindicated devices, implants, or other ferromagnetic materials on or implanted in anyone entering the scan room.
  • Uses proper ear protection for anyone inside of the scan room while scanning.
  • Completes documentation in Epic EMR.
  • Reviews exams in PACS for completeness prior to submitting to the radiologist.
  • Responsible for the safety of all patients.
  • Flexible to assist with the coverage of the department beyond normal scheduled hours.
  • Arrives on time for all assigned shifts. Including holidays and weekends.
  • Arrives ready to work and works until end of shift.
  • Completes mandatory learning, competencies and CEU’s as required.
  • Follows dress code policy.
  • Maintains HIPAA compliance.
  • Cleaning, stocking of supplies, and laundry to maintain a professional workspace.
  • Other duties as consistent with this role.

Job Requirements

Job Knowledge and Skills

  • Knowledge of MRI software, Siemens preferred.
  • Knowledge of PACS software, McKesson Change Healthcare preferred.
  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Record, Epic preferred.
  • Patient preparation, positioning, and scan acquisition according to protocol.
  • Identifies anatomy, pathology, and contrast enhancement on cross-sectional imaging.
  • Obtains symptom and relevant patient history to ensure medical necessity.
  • Routinely monitors and educates for MRI SAFETY.
  • Understands daily QA and warm-up procedure of MRI equipment.
  • Able to troubleshoot problems with MRI equipment and contact service as needed.

Education and Experience

  • Current ARRT certification, advanced ARRT registry in MRI required
  • NH Imaging License required.
  • BLS Certification required.
  • MRI experience required.
  • Degree or certificate from an accredited radiologic technology program preferred

An equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed above may be substituted for the above education and experience requirements.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks normally associated with this position that involves a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. Lifting/carrying frequently up to 35 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress related to high level of responsibility for quality care.
